In this gently effective all organic herbal formula, we combine slippery elm bark with mullein, favorites of western herbalism prized for their usefulness in soothing minor throat irritation. For a stronger effect, use 2 tea bags. For an irritated throat, sip throughout the day. To care for a delicate throat, such as for singing or public speaking, drink 1 to 2 cups per day.From the CoachWhile I admit I prefer coffee over tea (which is terrible for singers!), I often make an exception and drink Throat Coat or Throat Comfort tea (they both are slippery elm teas, two different manufacturers). These teas contain Slippery Elm Bark, an ingredient that has been known to soothe and comfort throat membranes for singers since the 1800s. Don't drink it too hot and if you are gigging, be sure to drink it far enough in advance that the warm liquid does not "over-relax" your membranes. Drink it 45 minutes before and then switch to room temperature water.
